Nov 13, 2014 I'm trying to upload a theme in Wordpress 4.0 on my server (not a shared host, and I'm running centos/apache), and receiving the following error: Unable to create directory wp-content/uploads/2014/11. Is its parent directory writable by the server? I've tried to look into some answers, but most threads seem to be 3.x or other, not 4.0 compatible. @ewsopp we are not able to upload media files through the addond.Bcoz its using /wp-content/upload folder once to upload on remote location.can we change to any other remote location or google bucket for the same.
Hi, I installed a clean version of WordPress and I was uploading a theme and it says:
Unable to create directory wp-content/uploads/2016/07. Is its parent directory writable by the server?
I read articles here with the same problem but the codes to fix this didn't work. Probably because of the directories. How do I know were my directories are?
I'm using Ubuntu 14.04 and WordPress.
I'm using Ubuntu 14.04 and WordPress.
Is th**ere any cpanel or something like that? Anyway... how do I give the right permissions (if that's what it is) to my directories?
thanks
*Edit: * I was seeing now that when I try to install from the store, it asks me for the host name, pass, FTP/SSH Username and Connection Type. I can install it through SSL, but I cannot upload since it doesn't ask me for any credentials, I guess I have to allow the permissions?
How can I access my web through ftp since I haven't configured it? I deployed ubuntu, install wordpress and that's it. but what about ftp?
I have set up a wordpress website on amazon ec2 using ubuntu 1.04 LTS by following this tutorial end to end except that i used amazon RDS(thier cloud database service) instead of sql.Although i dont think using RDS instad of mysql could have caused the problem. But I do think you ll need to check this tutorial out before you can answer the question.

What user is Apache/PHP running as? by default it would be www-data if the files/folders are not owned by this user then the webserver is unable to write changes to them. You would either need to change the owner of the files or chmod 777 /home/ubuntu/www/wp-content/uploads so that the Apache user can write in that folder.

ssh in and navigate to the
